HOTA provides students with a study book, enabling the student to work through the syllabus at their own rate, in the knowledge they will be supported by HOTA throughout. The study book provided is: RMS – Essential Health and Safety Guide, often referred to as the “blue book”.

Students will be encouraged to embark on further reading and will be provided with a list of useful websites and books. Students will be given contact details of HOTA’s online tutors, who will be on hand to assist throughout their study, alternatively students may visit HOTA for a face to face tutorial.

Students will be allocated a tracking sheet, which will track and chart their progress and set target dates, as they work their way towards an examination. A mock practical and written examination would be conducted near to the actual examination date that was agreed.

The length of the course is very much dependent on the student’s commitment and the amount time and effort they put into the study. Realistically a minimum of six months study would be required from receipt of the package to sitting the examination.
