Offshore Training Courses

Brand New! Minimum Industry Safety Training

Duration : 2 Days
Approval : OPITO

Special Note:

From the 1st April 2009, this introductory safety training programme is a requirement for all new starters to the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry.

The aim is to ensure that all personnel working or intending to work offshore have the same minimum knowledge of health and safety matters consistent with the offshore environment and that this is generic to the industry as a whole.

Consisting of 9 separate modules, each module has been designed to focus the delegates’ attention on their personal responsibility for safety thus influencing their behaviour and attitude towards their co-workers, the installation and the environment.

Each module is assessed by a test paper to determine competence. A pass mark of 80% is required on each module. Delegates failing to meet the minimum standard will be given further training and reassessed. Delegates still failing to meet training outcomes even after further training will be required to re-take the entire course.

Following and initial Introduction to the Hazardous Offshore Environment, the remaining modules will train the delegate about the various roles and responsibilities associated with working offshore:

Module 1 Introduction to the Hazardous Offshore Environment
Module 2 Working Safely including Safety Observations Systems
Module 3 Understanding the Risk Assessment Process
Module 4 Tasks that Require Permit to Work
Module 5 Personal Responsibility in Maintaining Asset Integrity
Module 6 Using Manual Handling Techniques Every Day
Module 7 Controlling the Use of Hazardous Substances Offshore
Module 8 Knowledge and Practices of Working at Height
Module 9 Being Aware of Mechanical Lifting Activities

The cost of the course is £345 plus VAT, however, if the course is booked with the 3 Day Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET) or 5 Day BOSIET with European Modules a discount will be applied and the fee will be £310 plus VAT
